The index page needs to be on the “root” of your main website directory so when anyone types in your domain name, the browser finds the index page (and then index.html doesn't need to be typed into the URL). Then we put all the other files and folders into a site folder to keep things organized remotely and locally. When you upload or download you only need to select the site folder and the index.html. And then click on the up or down arrow depending on whether you are downloading or uploading the site.
